This was the first time for SSKF, which inaugurated in 2013, to be held in Singapore after five successful years of forumsin Guangzhou.

Being the flagship project of Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC), the annual event of SSKF is currently the only high-level forum taking turns to being held in China and Singapore. It is also the strategic dialogue platform mutually initiated and advanced by high-level officials from Singapore and Guangdong province.

The 6th Sino-Singapore Knowledge Forum commences with a grand opening in Four Seasons Hotel on Aug 24.

This year's distinguished keynote speakers who delivered the opening addresses include Ong Ye Kung, Singapore Education Minister and co-chairperson of the Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council; Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong province and Zhou Yawei, director-general of Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City administrative committee. Zhong Manying, commercial minister counselor of Embassy of China in Singapore attended the forum.

recognized SSGKC's achievement of transforming itself into a large-scale and high-profile city of technology and innovation. SSKF has also earned its credit of bridging ideas and minds in the past years. SSGKC is believed to have reached greater heights with its new identity as a nation-level bilateral collaborative project.

Themed "Forging New Frontiers - All-round Opening Up and Innovation-driven Development", this year's forum aims to tap on the collective intelligence of think tank experts and business leaders from China and Singapore, to explore hot trending topics and embark on panel discussions regarding the future collaborations and developments between China and Singapore.  An estimate of 250 guests from Singapore and China have attended the Forum.

Two thematic panel sessions took place right after the opening ceremony and the sessions were themed respectively as "The Collaboration and Development Strategies between China and Singapore in the New Era of All-Round Opening up" and "High Quality Development, Reform and Innovation". Invited guests from China and Singapore adopted a three-prong approach (political, business and academic) when tackling these themes and their discussions primarily revolved around the development in Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as Guangdong's competitive advantage in the Belt and Road Initiative. They also took to explore how China and Singapore can promote collaborations in the new era, and bring about high quality development, reform and innovation to highlight the unique role that SSGKC plays throughout this process.

The forum also serves as a follow-up to the Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council 9th meeting that took place on the morning of Aug 24, 2018 in Singapore, which was co-chaired by Minister Ong Ye Kung and Governor Ma Xingrui. They have also witnessed the signing of several collaborative memorandums of understanding and strategic partnership agreements between Guangdong and Singapore in areas related to artificial intelligence, smart travel and talents training.
