The Centre of Excellence for Software Transfer (CEST) is an important international base for knowledge transfer and a platform for bilateral communication between China and Singapore. CEST shoulders the mission of carrying forward the fine cultures and knowledge between China and Singapore. As an outstanding transnational and cross-cultural strategic communication platform and a highly recognized hub with intellectual resources of both countries.

Knowledge Forum - Renowned Scholars Share on Intellectual Property Strategies

25, September 2014, Guangzhou Development District (GDD), Guangdong Intellectual Property Bureau, Guangzhou Intellectual Property Bureau, Guangzhou Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and GKC Co jointly held the second annual Sino-Singapore Knowledge Forum, with the revolving theme of "From Made in China to Created in China – Brand Competitiveness and Sustainable Intellectual Property Strategies." Professor David Teece, renowned American economist, Professor Wu Handong, former principal of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Professor Zhang Ping of Peking University's Law School, Dr Jack Cheng, Senior Assistant Director of Singapore's IP Academy, were among other experts that attended the forum. The experts shared on how to achieve innovation through the implementation of IP strategies from a government, enterprise and society's perspective.

The Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC) project continues as the next iconic project of Sino-Singapore cooperation after Tianjin Eco-City and Suzhou Industrial Park.

SSGKC will serve as a strategic platform for Guangdong's industrial upgrading and economic transformation and is positioned as a unique, vibrant,and sustainable city that is highly attractive to both talents and knowledge-based industries.

Audience

Since 2013, Guangzhou Development District (GDD) has activated a reform in the area of intellectual property protection and services. Through the construction of an integrated intellectual property protection and services system, GDD targets to achieve industrialization, commercialization and capitalization of intellectual property. Currently, GKC Co is working closely with GDD to develop SSGKC into a State-level Intellectual Property and Services Model Hub (IP Hub) of China, targeting to build a national patent examination cooperation center, provincial rights assistance center, Guangzhou intellectual property arbitration institute and intellectual property court.
